The most hip military sniper rifles (in terms of numbers in service) are chambered for .30 calibre ammunition, such as 7.62×51 and 7.62×54R. Since sniper rifles of this class must compete with definite other types of military weapons with companion range, snipers invariably must employ skilled field craft to conceal their position.
